A couple of the guys over at Eric's forum are building it I believe. I plan to build one this summer, got too much to do right now.

Re: Dalton & other gradiometers/differential magnetometers

      Dale,

Jim Koehler suggested in a prior e-mail to get Phil Barnes' plans on

CD (around $30, I think) and build one for less than $100. Just a

suggestion ... if the electronics are too much for you, call up the

local community college (if you have one) and talk to one of the

Professors in the electronics department. He might be able to put

you in touch with one of his brighter students and you could pay him

a few bucks to help you complete it. Or you could do what I did ...

buy a $55,000 boat and you'll have no problems finding people to

      help you with projects.

You might also try one of the other prospecting forums on the

internet and ask them the same questions. Personally, I think

everyone that bought one of Dalton's units killed themselves after

they spent that much money on it and that is why we can never find

anyone to answer these questions. Just kidding.

The Proton Mag ForumI am interested in getting a

gradiometer/differential mag and have looked at the Dalton Delta

square differential magnetometer but have several unanswere

questions about it. I like Dalton's publications and with my

limited knowledge they seem to make sense to me. BUT, the thing I

am having a hard time finding is people who have actually used one

of the Dalton units. If anyone has experience with one of these

instruments, I would appreciate hearing about it. Information on

actual results and/or actual degree of accuracy, etc. would be

greatly appreciated. BUT, any comment of any kind on this type of

instrument particularly in relation to prospecting would be

greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much, Dale
