Hi all, just after a little advice.
I have a Fisher Gold Bug with 11" and 5" DD coils, I also have a Teknetics T2 with 11" DD coil. I'd like to use the 5" DD on my T2
To quote Dave Johnson the designer of the Gold Bug and T2 from the Findmall forum -
I did some resistance measurements on the coils
Gold Bug 11"
Pin 1 - Pin 2 55.3 ohm
Pin 3 - Pin 4 3.3 ohm
Gold Bug 5"
Pin 1 - Pin 2 41.6 ohm
Pin 3 - Pin 4 2.6 ohm
T2 11"
Pin 1 - Pin 2 38.1 ohm
Pin 1 - Pin 3 334k
Pin 1 - Pin 4 336k
Pin 1 - Pin 5 336k
Pin 2 - Pin 3 334k
Pin 2 - Pin 4 334k
Pin 2 - Pin 5 334k
Pin 3 - Pin 4 2.6 ohm
Pin 3 - Pin 5 1.1 ohm
Pin 4 - Pin 5 1.1 ohm
So the Pins 1/2 and 3/4 relationships stay the same throughout the coils. Plugging the Gold Bug 5" coil into the T2 just gives a warning alarm.
Additional Info -
Fisher F75 is the same basic detector as the T2 just with different interface.
Gold Bug Accessory coils are advertised to work with Gold Bug (19khz) and Fisher F5 (7.8khz)
Fisher Gold Bug 11"/5" coil works on Fisher F75 (13khz)
Fisher F75 11"/5" coil works on Fisher Gold Bug
So, I want to make a little adaptor plug to take a Fisher Gold Bug 5" coil and plug it in to my Teknetics T2. I can't see the point on doubling up on coils when I should be able to swap them between units. Anyone have anything to add?

The new Bug (and also Tek G2) are designed to work with the Tek "Greek series" (also known as "Frat Bros.") series DD searchcoils, which at this time (Nov 2010) consists of a 5 inch round and an 11 inch elliptical.
Some people have gotten creative and plugged in other searchcoils from the FratBros and F75 series just to find out what happens. Results have been mixed. Because of manufacturing variation in searchcoils some individual ones of a particular type may "work" and others may not work. The ones that "work" may in fact exhibit subtle performance deficiencies, or may seem to work fine today but not tomorrow.
FTP-Fisher explicitly un-recommends that people purchase anything other than searchcoils specified for use with these units. But if you have one of our other searchcoils anyway, there's nothing to stop you from plugging it in just to see what happens. It won't damage the machine. Note however that Tek T2 searchcoils flat out won't work, they're wired different.
