I have tried the 6B on the silverdogs board

You run out of adjustment on the ground balance. I added a resistor in series.

But if you jumper R46 and change VR1 to 50K and it looks like it will work with both types of coil.

The adjustment will be more course but you could gain the adjustments sensitivity back by using a multi turn POT if it will fit into your housing

      • I have question. Isn't the IDX circuit and the classic 3 essentially the same circuit?

        • same. we say if see a new schematic 'simple like the classic' meaning that the schematic is simplest.

When Whites introduced the slim line models the

Classic I, II, III, III PRO, III PLUS, ID, IDX, IDX PRO

They were built using the same motherboard just with features add or removed or change of coil size.

I, II used the older 6B coils. The rest use the BlueMax.

Not too sure if every version of the III used the BlueMax though?

The pre SL version used a different motherboard but the circuit is the same.

whites has esspecial digital identificator on every pcb. you have just to see it and then you will clear represent yourself what schematic is.
for just example this board 505-0188. try to see it. its easily.

the Classic 1 has no all metal mode. So you can't add the threshold as that part of the circuit it missing. Without the threshold it would be difficult to adjust the ground balance.

with the Classic 1,2, 3 and IDX all built on the same PCB anything that doesn't require the all metal mode will be the same.

I did as you suggested, Jumper R46 Changed VR1 to a 50K multi turn pot and i can confirm both my 6B bargain coils ( Bluemax 256 and a 6b 8 inch) work with plenty of adjustments left on the Pot. Granted, it was just outside on frozen ground and in snow but no unwanted beeping while swinging. I think I'm going to really like that small 8inch! Thanks for the advice.

                              your welcome.

I used this as my only machine for about 2 years. I found the 8" very stable but lacked depth. About 30% Down over a homemade. However I could have a faulty one.

with quality headphones it really does talk to you. Eventually by the sharpness and or length of the sound you have a good idea what you are digging.

Aluminium give a longer softer beep. Coins give a nice sharp sound and so on.

                              • IDX MOD HELP

                                Hello from Germany.
I need some help with my IDX Pro
I have a German "TURBO" conversion on the Detector.
I would like to undo this to have a reasonable Mr. Bill conversion.
In the manual of the VR4 trimmer is the speech, which I do not have on this board but.
I hope you can help me with the board picture, which I have to change then.
If more pictures from the board are needed I can upload this tomorrow.

Thank you in advance for your help

and sorry for my bad english
