              • this is most likely for low battery power. Take a picture of everything.

                • My classic 3 board.

I see your board; but what I don't understand is why are there cables going across the board from the LM2930T to some resistors and what looks like battery terminal. I also don't understand the need for u1j100 (what are they?) on top of Chips?.. I'll post a picture of my board. Picture 1

                      • Replied to your message about doing good pics; but you didn't reply with an answer. I hoped that following your "good pic" tutorial, you'd be more incline to explain.

                            • Greetings everyone.

I have read many references to the Classic Series in other forums, and have read this thread concerning Mr. Bill's mods. As I read it I couldn't help but think that from a performance point of view, if I already own a MXT then there really would be no need for me to buy a Classic and perform the mods. Would that be an accurate thought,, that the MXT is already equal to or greater than the modified Classic?

That said, I do love to tinker and if I stumbled upon a Classic it seems like it would be a very fun project.

If you own the MXT, its a downgrade to a Classic that is modified. The mods don't increase depth performance that much of a Classic, it just makes it more adaptable to hunting different soil conditions. A modified IDX Pro with Mr. Bills mod with the 6" search coil is a blast to hunt with. One of my favorites.
