    SAT means Self-Adjusting Threshold.
    This helps to keep the audio threshold constant so that the user doesn't have to keep changing it manually to correct for drift.

            I suspect the 2-position switch changes the speed of the auto adjustment.

              I do not know, normally when the modification is done by Mr.Bill you have a switch with normal and boost. ( in de Netherlands call it Turbo switch)
              I know if you use the boost mode, the batteries have only half life time, but more depth! therefore, the switch is also important. (You have a choice)
              Therefore I do not see the benefit of the switch self adjusting treshold? Whether this should give more depth!
              I hope someone can explain the boost circuit, and so that you can switch between them. (battery life)
              If you look at the photo of Mr. Coin Chaser in this trade, you will see a switch with NORM SAT BOOST, could this perhaps be due to the depth?

              Can someone help me with these questions?
              I would like to fully understand it.

                  Is that not 3-positions ... NORM, SAT and BOOST?
                  NORM could be the non-motion (manually adjusted threshold) setting.
                  SAT is the self-adjusting threshold.
                  BOOST is something else, such as increased TX power (which would explain the reduced battery life).

                  However, this does seem to be a strange combination of settings.

                    Yes I am certain that it's a 2-position switch!
                    And yes I agree with you, it is a strange cobination of settings.
                    In the Neterlands they make only the ground balance and the turbo switch, and that costs 125 to 150 euros and that is a lot of money for this little modification.

                    So I hope Mr. Bill look again at this trade and can tell us how we can make the boost mode switchable.
                    Because there is a boost that you can read in the last part of the instructions, since you have to make an adjustment for the IDX display dept meter.

                        Look wat i have found on the internet, we have both rigt.
                        The SAT is the boost mode, slower sat is more dept!
                        We are learning day to day.

                        With the adjustable S.A.T. control, one can set up the threshold re-set speed for the different hunting conditions encountered while detecting. With slower S.A.T. speeds, one can detect targets deeper than they can in the same instance with a fast S.A.T., because your giving the circuit more time to analyze the signal. The trade off is that the ground will also have an affect. Tougher ground generally requires a faster S.A.T.

                          IMHO the "ground effect" here is simply the 1/f noise that becomes more pronounced with slower motion compensation. My experiments with motion compensation say also that you have much smoother transitions, better recovery speed, and more meaningful pinpointing with slower motion compensation. As most of the detectors still are the refurbished old designs, many of these have a potential to go slower than their ancestors, simply because some of the op amps used now have less pronounced 1/f noise, and will not end in chatters and tears if slowed down a bit.

                              Yes, I've read on dutch forum, and also at the link I sent you with the turbo switch. http://www.metaaldetectors.nl/testen/classic3.html last litle picture, (translate de text.)
                              Perhaps the longer calculations, consumes more power, like a laptop that long calculate the battery faster empty. (play a game or so)
