Garrett Euro ACE Speaker Volume

Isn't this going a bit far, for just a question of how to change the volume of a speaker?

The ones who did these mods apparently have not had faults with their equipment afterwards - but it's a good idea not to be blind to one's luck when it comes to mods.
And TV Repair Guy, if there was an issue with parasitic oscillation, it would probably be better to bring it up in a less accusing manner, citing for example a datasheet with that amp's phase angle restriction instead of "known tv repair practice"?

After all this is a forum for creative and constructive work. Datasheets from characterizing, and measurements from real work, should be the things that take authority instead of wild shouting. When matters are made into personal arguments, everyone just digs deeper trenches, and nobody learns nothing.

This LED-mod is a real good job and nice inspiration.
Of course I suggest to attach a little push on-off switch.

btw. I'm planing to make the Garrett Pro Pointer LED on-off switchable.


About this speaker mod:
These little Garrett ACE speakers are nearly comparable with those
in larger headphones! And now guess what those headphones are
using if they have directly adjustable volume?
Simple a little turnable variable resistor.
Everything else would require an additional voltage source
but the plug only has ground, left audio and right audio (stereo) or just one for mono.

I have no longer time for this childsplay - just one last hint:
If less electrons can move over a cable less work (sound output) will be done.

I do not see a reason to open new thread. here - the sound level pot and the mini switch for LEDs on back side.

Other people should find those mods - hopefully with the search function
or by renaming the title. Easier if the title describes the full content or
a thread contains not multiple mods.

btw. usual only Garrett GTI 2500, 1500 and GTP 1350 have LCD with backlight.

And as a refinement of your mod there would be the possiblility to adjust the brightness,
especially if you're using one of those ultra bright LEDs. And another very good idea:

One switchable ultrabright LED on the front of the ACEs nose for
having an integrated little flashlight for nighthunting-sessions.
