Hy Ivconic. Nice to be among you and to have the occasion to say something to smart people like you all (really, we do not have a such brain storming in France !)
You did the wright thing. I did the same with mine, changing capacitors !
Still, this is not the purpose of my message.
This machine, I mean yours is specific. You've got the n°305 which is one of the firsts which were built. I do have the n°600 and the n°1455. There is a real difference between them !
The fact is that even if the PCB card is different (XPLORER V2.0) the problem comes with the coil ! The first ones were bigger cabled whereas the second generations are thinner. I will give some pictures and a video mabe on tomorow.
This is a real comercial joke to downgrade one's machine's power ! Incredible ! You'll see!
Ivconic :Just for your next question . Adventis 2 and ADX 100 Ã r 250 which are pic V4 are as powerfull as the first adventis. Be sure that you'll be happy with this nice product. I did some comparing tests and you'll be happy for sure !
last weekend i bought an adx100 (v3) for 100 bucks on the hand
the seller said he never understand how it works right and had no ideas for hunting places ?
this is my first xp and i am impressed too, a nice feature is the tone behaviour
a coin at longer distance makes a short high tone if the coin comes clother the tone lasts longer and is smoother
pinpoiting is easy (detector has no extra pp) if you sweep slow cloth to the find you can hear three tones
very nice
next time i open the box i will search a place to connect idx pro vdi
on the backside from the frontpanel the are two additional mountig holes drilled
(i will abuse them for optional extern GB pot, and maybe a Volume control)
i think i will try a 32cm diy coil, im able to measure something
only one side is tricky it seems that there is a elko inside the head
was only able the measure in one direction rx around 5,6mH
i calculated for the right frequency of 4,6 kHz a cap around 100-130nf
the box could be much smaller too
it an option to modify hole machine with a lipo accu and a hammond 1455 enclosure
BTW has anybody ever opened one of those XP coils to see what's inside?
You can measure TX on most of those but you can't measure RX on conventional way.
I wander... must be some serial capacitor and/or higher resistance resistor in it (dummy traps or just the way it is)?
Just got ADX100 without coil and stem, bare machine, so was thinking to try to make diy coil for it.
When i opened it i was pretty much surprised with pcb sizes; so small, 1/3 size of GMP or Gmaxx!
A dwarf pcb inside!
Looking for any data on such coils.
TX is "standard", 1.1mH and when i hooked Vaqero TX coil on it; it gives me nice 4.595kHz, yet RX will not do.
As you see it's very easy to repair this machine. A few IC's and several passive elements... Only if somebody find bin code and a way to program it we can realy repair or just readjust this detector. Until then we just can look at him and wondering.
Or just using it and be happy with it? How about that?
Btw Adventis is sold long time ago to another owner.
Right now i do have ADX and Deus.
Looking for coil data to make another coil for ADX.
In case i can't find data there is always legal local XP provider where i can buy it.
So no problems at all.
But is good for this forum to elaborate XP coils in details, strictly in educational purposes.
Because XP coils are performing very nice indeed.
So sooner or later i will have coil specs&data, no question at all.
On other hand, speaking about code for uPc... well; we don't actually need original code at all.
It's enough to trace analogue part of circuitry and analyze it good, so code role will be more than obvious.
Each enough educated and conversant diy'er should be capable enough to understand what's going on when analyze such simple circuitry as Adventis is.
The one who is familiar with programming can also write own code to replace original one.
So... no troubles at all.
P.S. Btw it is not easy to repair such machines, you are so wrong thinking that way... but than again; this is free world, each man can think whatever he want to think.

Of course it's not! In fact, I haven't heard that anyone can repair XP. Sometimes someone kill audio out or bad potentiometer and this is only malfunctions I've met until today. But that are not seriously repairs. Main problem is in chip with label on it and there is version of software which is used in that unit. I mentioned a years ago, that two same detectors with various version do diferent things. One is good for bronze but don't detect small silver and other is very useful for small silver but misses small bronze. On the externals of this two XP's there is no diferencies and they look absolutely the same. But program is the reason why they do diferent yobs.
I am not expert for programming, writing and modification of software is far away from me, but I think that some good programmer can make bin code for specific terrain and items and make this machines very useful and adaptable for each digger and soil. This can turn XP into seriously detector and can increase interesting for this manufacturer. Not only for integrated wireless phone emitor.
Coil for XP ADX, Gold Maxx and G-Maxx 2 looks the same and they are DD 22,5 cm. Now I haven't neither one XP nearby, but as I remember, houses for all of them are made of cheap plastic and cable is very bad. That is probably the reason why garantion for coil lasts 1 year and for machine 3 time longer. I've changed cabl for one XP a year ago but without opening coil house. I am also interested what that vise Francaise put it in...
