  • Mod v3i wireless module...

Has anyone modified the V3i wireless module to be adapted to be able to use it on a dfx, mxt pro,etc so that the v3i wireless headphones can be used on whites other detectors? Like adding a headphone plug to supply the power to the module and using the wireless headphones that way?
Or even mounting it to the dfx or mxt pro board?

I think you will find that transmitter module is very much an integrated part of the whole V3, and is not at all transferable. Just use conventional aftermarket gear to get cordless. For example Tecknet Rapoo's, TDK WR700's, the Scottish 'Highland Innoovations' FM system etc. The datasheet for the V3's module is available, I'm sure it will be little use, however.

But here is the wireless module that the v3i uses.

The V3 wireless module is just a dumb radio, all the smarts is in the micro firmware inside the V3 and the headphones. So, yes, you could make a wireless dongle by adding an ADC and a micro. But you would need to know the packet protocol and timing to make it work. White's considered making this product using the Cypress module but decided instead to create a whole new wireless standard using a new radio chip and new protocols. The dongle is part of those plans.
