  • Tiger Shark Mod

I am trying to mod my newer Tiger Shark into and interchangable coil type. Is there an IP68 panel 4 pin connector that would work to replace hardwire connector ? I also can install a bulgin 400 connector inline past the hardwire connector. My tiger is 12.5 kHz. Is it possible to use the Tesoro HOT style 4 wire coil which is for 14 kHz units ? I know the 10 kHz Umax style coil will work but don't know if the Tesoro HOT style will.

Any info from any of the pros on this forum will be greatly appreciated. I have the experience in the wiring portion, I just don't have the knowledge of kHz to know. If I try to do this as an experiment...will I hurt the machine by trying the HOT coil ?

    Thanks in advance. LH

The Tesoro Hot coils are designed to work only for the Tejon 17.2 to 17.6 khz, Cibola 14 khz , Vaquero 14 khz and Lobo Supertraq which is at 17.5 khz.

So I am assuming 14 to 17.6 khz is the frequency range of the H.O.T. coil's . Why mod a Tiger Shark to a lower frequency ?

      Thanks for the reply.

I'm trying to give the Tiger Shark some coil options like a DD style coil. I hunt in some harsh soil freshwater beaches and could use the DD style coil.

If you have a LC meter check the inductance at your H.O.T. Coil connector plug . You should have 2 transmit wires , and 2 receive wires and see how they are configured in comparison to your Tiger Shark "stock coil" plug wire configuration .Please be careful and use a LC "inductance meter" before swapping pins to a different pin order on the plug .
Or a long shot that you may find that they are correct , but I do not think they are correct !!!
