  • ace150 with pinpoint?

    hi at all,

perhaps one of you help me ....
it is possible to equip the ace150 with a pinpointer? I have been looking for a circuit diagram of ace 250, to compare the circuits.
I just found a circuit diagram on the net.
but the diagram has such a poor resolution that you can not see anything...

    regards, marc

    Hi Marc,

its not worth to mod the Ace 150s PCB to add a pinpointer function and I don't think it's possible to mod the circuit board that way.
But you can use the 11cm Garrett Sniper Coil and a shorter pole for the coil.

The better solution is to built an extra Pinpointer or modify the Garrett Pro-Pointer as you can see it here -
scroll down to the very last picture there.

    good luck

thanks for the link, I was wondering about to coil connector connections,
and now I know what they are.

Interesting stuff but useless for Schatztaucher because the ic U1 (64pin)
including the reset button input there is missing on the schematic completly.

But he may have a chance if he "shortcuts" the motion-circuit before its signal enter the U1
so the IC only is able to output an usual nonmotion signal (weak to strong).
Or he bypasses the motion-circuit signal somehow.

              hi Schatztaucher

The schematic alone won't help you anyway - you also would need the software for the programable chip,
special IC-writing-hard- and software and perhaps even some JTAG-interface and the skill to mod and compile the source-code......

It's really better you sell that Ace 150 and buy the new Euro-Ace with pinpoint-function and new DD coil or something else and/or an additional good pinpointer.

Or you may try the simple audio volume-mod for the Garrett Ace I have done and described already - you can find it here somewhere on this forum.

              good luck

ID:	337382 Take the box apart and take the face plate out and be careful, i sent a picture and you'll see were i soldered the wires to, you have to take that little piece off the top very careful and pry up were the wires have to go, but be careful you don't want to break nothing and run two long wires up to you handle and mount a pushbutton switch too it and you can tape it right their, then when you need pinpoint just push the button and you got it. and were your going to solder you have to be careful and scrape were your going to solder. Interesting work but this is the 250, Euroace or 350 - the 150 has only 3 buttons and the middle one is for sensitivity - see here:
                      http://www.treasurefinders.net/Garret%20Ace%20150.htm

btw. that way you must locate the housing closer to the coil which gives higher weight.

Pretty useless modification if you ask me but thanks for the pix - if one of those press-button contacts is "broken"
we know now how it looks there and it should be no problem to fix those thin pcb connections by soldering.
