  • Need info on surfmaster 1.2 ApBerg adjustments

Hi, I need some information on the surfmaster 1.3 long board, I tried using my Tecknetics 4000 Delta to clear the area, then use the surfmaster 1.2 ApBerg. But it was going crazy with every swing. I realize that fast swinging is counter productive. My Question is how/where do I set the gain. Also what do I set the Delay 1 and Delay 2 to. I want to set up properly so I can do some water hunting as well.

    Cheers

anyone willing to help, It has one adjustable rectangular blue box with a copper screw this is to be 0DC. I have done alot of reading but not quite sure on the gain, do you turn it to the right fully so there is no noise? Also for the delay 1 tune it until I get my maximum depth with my gold ring? Delay 2 do I set it just past where delay one is set?

    any help is appreciated
    cheers

      Hello Willie11,

You will need a multi meter to adjust the onboard trimmer (blue box with copper screw) which should be R10. Set your meter to DC and use your
black probe to battery neg or ground and red probe to pin 6 of the IC NE5534, adjust the trimmer (brass screw) until your meter reads 0v dc, that adjusts or sets
      the offset to 0v.

Use your delay just as you are, finding maximum sensitivity to whatever your detecting for, gold, coins etc...

Hope that helps, I'm a rookie too but have learned a ton here just reading hundreds and hundreds of posts..

        Thank you for the reply,
I am no electrical engineer, I just started with PI used to using VLF units only, so I assume to test the unit must be turned on? I know dumb question but I must ask.
They do not always tell the exact details what is needed to do, just the assuming we all know how to do it. No criticism intended, just a newbie to building a PI.
i know I must read, but hard to get my head around.

        cheers

        Sincerely

            Hey willie11,

I totally understand, I spent a month reading stuff here and still am learning new stuff everyday in here.
This site is awesome when it comes to engineering knowledge, something I wish I would have gotten into
            25 yrs ago...

But anyhow, yes, plug her in and turn it on to do the adjustment.. I have read different answers
where you need to remove the coil to do it and also have the coil plugged in but have mostly seen where
it doesn't matter as long as the unit is turned on. That is how I do it and it works just fine..

Keep reading as much as you can and absorb a little at a time, it will start falling into place a bit here and a bit there..
Make sure and get this book as soon as you can, All I hear is good things and how well it will guide you to doing what you
are looking to do.. I ordered mine last week, still waiting for it and am anxious to get it..(link below)..

            Hope that helps,
