@KT : If you want to keep the 220K resistor, then the 24K needs to be replaced with about 35K ( I calculate ), so I would suggest using a 33K resistor. Even if the voltage is 8.5V, it will not matter, any 9Volt circuit will work fine on 8.5V.

For my Bandido 2 I bought a pair of high capacity 9v rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They were reasonably cheap and came with a charger.

Skippy, i did set 33k, that shows slightly more than i was been waiting, real measure value was 34k,
so i did set 32k and it is OK now. 9 v alcaline batt if fresh gives 10+v, if you are in course, 9-10v on converter output will be good.
        thank you

my plan is a source of a pair of 18650's. they do not need in special charge and/or balanser board.

For 2x 9v you even can take two small 7,4v LiPo blocks.
The detector usually will still work the same good.

Many digicams are using them: 7,4v and 1500mA
            Size ca. 4 x 1,5 x 2 cm; weight around 150 grams.

Since ca. 5 years there exists even multi-lipo-accu
chargers where just the both outside voltage pins have
to be touched by the very adjustable power contacts.
Some exists where the batteries also can provide 5v
            USB-out for charging computer devices.

Some of them cost less than 20 bucks but
can charge almost any existing LiPo blocks!
They don't use balance-charging but with some
lower cut-off-voltage this is no problem and the
lipo accumulators are still getting over 90% juice.
Or you can charge with them the single cells
seperate by touching the pin(s) in the middle.

            search google for travel-chargers.

            something like this here:

This is a Digipower TC-U400 universal lithium ion/NiCd/NiMh/USB charger.
To charge lithium camera batteries, it has two sliding prongs.
You adjust the prongs to hit the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
The charger automatically detects if the polarity is reversed or not, and switches it.

soldered 33k resistor on the place. to connect to BH will be second step.

Since i now own a Deus and a garrett 400i, im no longer using my BH
My last idea was to use the tubing to store the 18650 batteries :0

This arrangement of two PP3's in series is also used in the Fisher F2 / F4 and maybe other machines in the First Texas line-up.

my last photo is only test and i will add still a switch (do not want to cut pcb) and socket for charge.
working good and voltages are same as was been without loading.
will check on time - with 2*AA, 3*AA and 4*AA.
