The trick is: alufoil-tape!
Stick a piece of it behind the coil area and lift it up while switching the pointer on.
After that press down the end of the piece and the Pinpointer is high sensitive.
To gain most sensitivity adjust the location of the tape while the pp is on
so the beep or vibration barely still doesn't goes off.
Of course no other metal must be near while doing this.
Check out that it's real alufoil tape and not some lookalike-nonmetal one.
Some tapes are real alu but have a thin invisible PET-protection-coating.
And the sticky layer should be real good.
There is also the possibility to scratch some markings into the pinpointers case
so its directly clear where is the area if some replacement tape should be needed.
And there is another useful purpose:
If the LED can not get switched off, the alutape can
be used to cover the whole light of the LED at night.
