Good evening. Can you post a photo of the front panel of your scope? I'm using type 453 and it take me some half en hour to figure out how to get both channels working. Having previous experience only with vintage russian machines does not help me much;-). So do you have trace on both the channels but you cant find suitable setting or there is no trace at all on channel 2?

      Hi Dime
This document helped me to better understand the workings of a scope and enabled me to successfully repair my Aaron BS-601 which had been sitting in a box for over 20 yrs, after being dropped down the stairs by the previous owner-

      http://sphere.bc.ca/test/tek-parts/t...ing-scopes.pdf

Flushed with my success I have now started repairing another one (**** Smith Q-1802 / PS-200) which only had one channel (B) working and am waiting for replacement component(s).

If you do delve inside just be aware that there are some very high voltages present which can be quite dangerous - a circuit diagram or service manual is very helpful in knowing where to avoid.

If you only have a horizontal line on Channel A the fault is most likely in the vertical pre-amp / attenuator section due to an input voltage overload.

Do you have a manual for your scope? If you can't find one online be aware that many scopes are rebranded from the one manufacturer and are otherwise identical.

It was something posted a long time ago, and worth testing.
