  • Surf PI 1.2: Can I replace delay trimmer with potentiometer

I am completely clueless with both electronics and metal detectors.

I did, however, manage to assemble a surf PI 1.2 kit, from silverdog (and it even works!).
Now, if I want to be able to adjust the delay a little easier, could I just replace the trimmer with a 100k potentiometer?

Also, if I some day would like to use headphones with it, what kind of changes am I looking at? I currently have the piezo buzzer on.

yes 100k potentiometer ok and just put a headphone socket were your piezo connects

    cheaper and easier

      Very nice, thank you!
Didn't expect I could just put a socket instead of the piezo. That was very easy

I do hope this thread isn't dead and buried.
im also interested in the advantage of fitting an external pot
in place of the delay trimmer. I've read to also to change the resistor from 15 to 5k
What do you think the effects might be? Would it push components a little too much?
i see the above post has been superficial answered but really interested in the merits.
        thanks
