  • Pulse Audio modification

Hello Guys. I have a delta pulse PI metal detector and have been using it for years. Its audio seems annoying to my ears. I want to modify it's audio stage by changing the 555 audio driver to cd4046 vco ic that will sound like the pulse star. Is this possible? Does anybody has the wiring diagram? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank You..

I did this with a CD4046. The Manta had a "Tic - Tic" type audio with a 555 timer. I built a little piggy back board that just plugged into the 555 socket.
It's VCO AND volume modulation. You can change the range of frequency easily by playing with the capacitor values.

You could probably adapt it to almost anything. I did notice a labeling mistake on my schematic.. The Manta uses +5v as ground and -5v as supply but you can get the general idea as a starting point for mods to your own projects. So.. this addition I used is a 5v circuit.

          Thank you so much dfbowers....
Anyway, where is pin7 input coming from? and what is the purpose of the switch?

Pin 7 would be the input to the audio stage - a fluctuating D.C. signal that would normally go to a 555 timer configured as a VCO. The switch would be used for a threshold audio like the Baracuda or Surf PI, or a threshold + VCO. The circuit I use it in is very similar to the Hammerhead.

[QUOTE = dfbowers; 227877] Bunu bir CD4046 ile yaptım. Manta, 555 zamanlayıcı ile "Tic - Tic" tipi bir sese sahipti. 555 yuvasına takılan küçük bir piggy back board kurdum.
VCO VE ses seviyesi modülasyonu. Kondansatör değerleriyle oynayarak frekans aralığını kolayca değiştirebilirsiniz.

This was just one idea.. food for thought. I was only showing a starting point for your own projects.

                        Hi,
I am wondering if anyone else has tried this audio mod that Don did here and how it might have worked out for you?
                        Cheers
