Good evening Gents, I was going thought my bin of IC chips and came across a JRC2068 operational amplifier, I was wondering if any of you think it would be a better swap then the LM358 that was supplied with surf pi 1.2, there is nothing wrong with what came with the kit but I think( im really not sure) that the 2068 might be better quality.

here is a data sheet for both chips, Lm358ap http://www.alldatasheet.com/datashee...I/LM358AP.html

LM358 can work with single supply down to 3V. JRC2068 needs dual supply, minimum +-4V, but if you can live with that, noise and slew rate are much better.

What do you think it would improvements would be ? if i'm not mistaken doesn't the surf pi 1.2 board already use voltage for that chip that is above 4 V DC ?

Loking at the schematic, no improvement will be noticed by replacing the LM358.

Reason: it functions as an integrator not requiring neither low-noise nor fast components.

The improvement woud come by replacing the NE5554 by a faster Op-amp with lower noise, for example LME49990. But this would be on condition that your Tx coil decays fast enough to take advantage of a faster chip and sample earlier.

Thank you, So long and short of it would be to, leave well enough alone, After all the kit works and im sure Andy supplies with best suitable components for it, But it was still fun doing some data comparisons and seeing all the different uses a chip has for many applications, I feel I learnt something in the process, which is always worth it.
