  • SD2200D what's this mod?

    Hi guys,
I've just sourced SD2200D with some mods done, however can't identify who done these mods and what they are and how they work.
any help would be much appreciated.

Perhaps this pdf will give hints and leads for further research. http://www.minelabmods.com/joomla3/i...-modifications
Also check what that little jack is connected to. It might be something like this: http://golddetecting.4umer.net/t8946...to-your-sd2200

          Thanks ,
yes the 3.5mm jack apparently is for connecting remote switch for ground balancing . The two switches at battery side are for changing frequency and timing(msd and m1 s m2) , just the little switch at the coil side panel I can't figured out yet . It is connected to the coil socket??

If it is close to the coil plug it could be a DD/mono switch so you can use a DD coil as a mono.

            Cheers Mick

it could be, however when flick the switch decrease sensitivity dramatically( with DD coil), not sure how it works.
The two orange wires are connected to the coil plug..

                Mono/dd switch.
When you have a mono coil on, the switch will do nothing.
When you have a DD coil on, in one position you will be receiving from the rx coil and the other position you receive from the tx coil.
Discrimination won't work in mono mode. Sensitivity will be less in DD. More ground noise in mono, depending on where you detect.

                Cheers Mick

                  Thanks Mick,
I can see much benefits to use this mod though, just drops the sensitivity of the DD coils.

No, it makes a DD more sensitive! :P
It depends where you are using this detector and what you are looking for.
Mono coils will give best depth and sensitivity.

related to 2200D's mods does the detector work over 7V or not ,because mine doesn't , I tried to use my power setup from my SD2000 running 7.2V but not turning on ,
                      when I go below 7 not a problem ,

They have input overvoltage protection. I thought it was a bit higher than 7.2, but might be confusing it with the gp series.

                        Cheers Mick

                          should work at 7.2v
