  • Variable Tone Control Circuit

Last year we worked on Rick Viola's Tone Control that he gave us schematics for. That were used in the Ratphones.
The circuit runs on speaker power voltage.
The finished tone control does work to some extent on analog machines. Would not work on digital target Id screen machines.
If anyone wants a project and maybe improve on this circuit. I will post everything- files for you.

The Diode on the lower left on the PCB is wrong, correct Diode to be used is a 1N5819, which is what I used.

    Added note:

Looked up the 1n5819 diode specs and think the 1n5817 might be a better choice. The 5819 is more for power applications and it has higher forward voltage drop. This means the audio out of the detector has to be pretty loud for the board to work. The 5817 has less forward voltage drop and the audio out of the detector should not need to be as loud for the board to work.

You might try a 1n5817 in your board and see what you think.
