I was going to suggest antennaengineering.co.uk as a supplier of telescoping aluminium tube which has 56 thou wall thickness. However they no longer appear to exist.
But a Google search found these guys:

Maybe that's a starting point.

Many tubes have thinner wall thicknesses, like 48 thou, 50 thou ( or whatever they are in SWG / AWG ), which may be suitable, it just depends on what you're wanting to fit, eg. are you using an existing carbon lower rod from an established detector manufacturer ?

last time I looked at a Russian site they were knocking the out at ?15 including a bottom stem.


could not find a supplier anywhere as cheap that ships to the UK


New bright yellow ones (Garrett style) do turn up on ebay from time to time


you have to play with the searches as there no consistency in the naming. Stem, Shaft, rod, Pole must be a joke in here somewhere.


It bugs me it works out cheaper to buy a rubbish detector and use just the mechanics chucking the rest away. Than buying just the mechanics in the UK.

iv'e had in the past 14" round and 14" oval shells from them,
there under the LANDCRAFT brand.

don't think you can buy the empty shells direct from their main website,
think they sell the empty casings on ebay.

That's still my favorite rod kit. In the US they are $50, never heard of a volume discount but Inverness does their own thing.

Got 2 of those. Very nice rods. However:

1st rod kit I ordered some 10 years ago - the arm holder was metal and very sturdy / well built
2nd rod kit I ordered 2 years ago and the arm holder was replaced with JUNK plastic made.
I had to order metal arm holder from regton i think that costs almost 1/2 of the price of the rod kit. Made in China plastic junk has made its way to Sweet Home, OR

The plastic arm cup is actually made in the USA, about 10 miles from Sweet Home. And it's probably a tad more expensive to make than the metal arm cup. I think they switched over because the rod kit tends to be used in salt water a lot, and the metal one tends to break from salt corrosion. You might be able to request a metal arm cup instead when ordering.

I just threw it away. It feels cheap. The metal arm cup is much better. Choose that if you can.

I've tried to break the plastic one, it's extremely tough. I like the metal one better because I can bend it to fit my arm exactly.
