  • Aqua-Explorer part3 - All buttoned up

This project is nearly finished, just need to make a patch cable between the control box and the battery box.

Here's the battery box before I buttoned it up. The headphone wires pass through and out a waterproof fitting on the back. This way I can remove the headphones if I want by simply unscrewing the connector.

Well here it is. You can see the silicone front cover is not quite optically clear but its pretty good, might even function as a sun screen to keep the glare off. The sheet is flexible of course and .060 inch thick. It exceeded my expectations by quite a margin in that the buttons are as easy to press through this cover as they are with no cover at all.

Here's the back with the clear lexan rear cover and the two waterproof fittings for the coil, and battery/heaphones.

Here's a closup of the front.

Everthing you've made looks really good..............

    Suffice to say............"WOW!".

No, maybe it can be also said that:

"That is TRUELLY a waterproofing for the Explorer".

    Thanks for showing, Charles.

          LOOKS GREAT !!!! BUT..................

have you considered painting the aluminum housing inside and out with a heavy coating of black, blue vinyl or epoxy paint???

Reason I ask, bare aluminum will condensate moisture inside the control box
pretty fast otherwise. I had to see your fantastic looking project end up getting wet in a waterproof housing.

That's a good point Sven, maybe also he might consider a couple of those small silica gel packets placed inside to help suck the moisture.

Something else that just jumped into my old gray cells. Charles you could, maybe on the bottom out of site, put a vacuum port. Then when button her up you could have a small handy vac drawing it down. you wouldn't need a whole lot of vacuum, that might collapse your face cover.
