  • D-3000 mods...

Hello! I'm newly registred on this forum but i look it since 1 or 2 years!
    I have 3 detectors(MXT,Eldorado and Discovery3000 from RC)
The D3000 is my first detector(I use it the 2 first years,my brother use it the third year)Now,my brother use the Eldorado.

1- I have never used the D3000 in disc mode because the discriminate mode was so erratic and praticaly unsusable(a lot of:beep, bup, bip, bup)

2- And i know the ground track button is not a real ground balance.

3- the ground in my region is mineralised in black sand.

SO!!! Befor resell it or forget it in the store room,i dicided to try to modified some trimmer pots ajustment ,And you know what!!!! I have done the mods i want!!YESSS!

Much less ground respose with the same sensitivity on coins or gold ring,
And increase the thereshold a little bit(another trimmer for that).
So i got 3/8 inch more on sensitivity.

After that,i have change the setting to be in the disc mode.
I have found another trimmer for adjusting what it seems to be a sort of ground balance in the disc mode.

The adjusting move i have make:
1- Gnd balance trim for All-metal mode:a very little Clockwise
    2- Thereshold trim (All-metal too):Counterclockwise about 10%
3- Gnd balance for disc mode:Counterclockwise about 10%
I have achived that adjustment on the cement floor and a bottle
    of black sand.

    Now! it work very well

You can post here, the limit is 250 k, bmp files are not convenient. Look: in bmp the file is 350 kb, in jpg the same is 20 kb or less. For to convert bmp in jpg, first open the file in bmp and save as jpg. You can upload here via Manage Attachments button the file from your computer. Here the file in jpg:

          Solution to erratic behavior

I have used the Discovery 3000 for over 10 years, If you tape, or tighten the coil cable to the shaft so it doesn't move, it will quit falsing. At least this works for me.
