  • Modify White's XLT metal detector

Can anyone tell me how to modify the white's XLT metal detector to make it find smaller gold.

Someone told me that the white's XLT frequency is 6.595 and for it to find smaller gold, its needs to be around 14 to 20khz.

Now the big question is, What do i need to modify?

    Thanks

You can't modify the freq. on the XLT. There are 2 microcontrollers that run on the same clock, and one of them generates the audio. So if you increase the freq, then the audio tones increase as well. I tried this once, and it squealed like a baby pig. I also suspect the digital filters are closely tied to clock rate, so if you up the freq then the filters don't work right.

      Hey Carl,
Thanks for that information, you probably save me alot of headaches and time from tearing it down and having it cry like a baby pig. (Grin)

Maybe its time to get a new detector.

      Thanks
