  • Bandido 2 umax

Hi All. I have a Bandido 2 umax that I nugget hunt with. Like all current Tesoro's execpt the Loby ST it is not adjustable for sensetivity in the all metal mode. This presents a problem when hunting in highly mineralized ground. The preset sensetivity is often to high and needs to be adjustable to make it run smoothly in Highly mineralized ground. Just wondering if any of you electronic types know if a extra pot or switch could be wired into the circuit to make it ajustable in all metal mode. Thanks

Rather than change the gain itself, I would fit a pot to speed up/control the auto or SAT speed. Back in the vlf days here in OZ, we found this to give a range of benefits such as being able to sweep the coil over the ground while adjusting the ground balance and eliminate or quieten some rocks along with the ground itself. This may mean adding a small bit of ferrite or an adjustable ferrite slug to the top of the coil housing though in order to balance the coil windings otherwise you will get a troublesome noise when rotating the GB pot.
