Here's my new Explorer, finished just in time for the North/South hunt this Friday! I'll also be heading to the Jersey shore Sunday night for a day or two of beach hunting with this unit.
I was on your site looking at this set up. Man it's great. Have you any better idea what thsi set up would cost to produce and sell. I have a Quattro that could use this kind of set up. Also is that your own pin pointer assembly? If so what is the trick to winding one up and connecting it in line? .

At this point cost would only be a wild guess. When I get back from the North/South hunt I'll be crunching some numbers. I would think making one for a quattro would be pretty easy except for one thing. I'd need a Quattro button panel to mold the front cover and I don't have one.
That probe is an Sunray X1, the switch box and all the parts are mine.
Sorry for the short reply, I just got back to my hotel after spending 9 hours bushwhacking at the N/S hunt and I'm beat!

I'd just like to tell u guys that this is the best thing next to washing machine. If you're wondering about how to maintain an error-free PC and achieve 100% system performance, try this! P.S. If you're also wondering about how to kill spyware on your system, try this!

What materials do you use for the housing? For most of my modifications I only use reinforced epoxy and acrylic glass (Plexiglas). Did you use a thermic process for molding the rear cover?
Thanks! Yes the rear cover is thermoformed. Acrylic is prone to cracking and its virtually 100% guaranteed to crack if heated and formed therefore I use other types of clear thermoplastics. The black portion of the housing is ABS.
