Probably not many people still modding old Sovereigns - I like the simplicity and reliablity and quality of the original Soveriegn - looking at some old posts on forum and decided to do a straight shaft as well as other mods to give it a new lease of life - again these are not all my own ideas but the work is mine - probably inspired by past posts from others on the forum - suppose some of this might be useful on other machines also.

I agree with you. The original Sov is probably one of the best metal detectors ever made for finding old coins in a park setting from my experience.

The best is to replace the AA batteries or the Nimh battery with a Turnigy 3S 11.1V 1450mah LiPo battery. It fits right into the battery pack or battery pack.

mistake. you have to have a reserve in 2+ volts. stabilizer in ML give 10V so 1,1 above is not enough. also. ML batt has 10pcs, not 8, NiCads that give 12V. with 8 NiMh ML will work very unstabyle.
