  • Baron Pro Hunter - Potentiometer

    Hi,
I got a Baron from Discovery with a Pro Hunter module.
This makes the detector work with 16 AA batteries! (8 for the Baron and 8 for the module).
There are things to fix but I have a problem especially with the old potentiometers.
    There are 4 of them: 2 x 10k with an on/off push switch (7 solder pins) - 1 x 100k with an on/off push switch (7 solder pins) - 1 x 100k with an on/off rotary switch (5 solder pins).
I can't find this type of potentiometer in stores, do you have any idea?
    Thanks.

Hi the only pots I know of, with pull switches, are used in guitar volume and tone setups and usually range from 100k to 1Meg, linear or log. You could place additional resistance in parallel to the pot to get the right overall resistance but linearity will suffer.

        Thanks for the info.
The problem is soldered on the plate, there is no room.
        Not much choice
I think your first link, "Mario-j23", is the right one. This appears to be RK097

          Last one is easiest, https://www.ato.com/100k-rotary-potentiometer

          Or Ebay , https://www.ebay.com/itm/264549018346

3 pins for the pot, 2 for the make switch.

that is a problem just for you... put more solder on every pot pads. MORE. then warm up a pin to pin, but NOT OVERHEAT the pads -!
you will pull out the pot in some moment free.

I don't think it fits! This potentiometer does not have on/off push. I think it has on/off and then 0k-10k regulation

you can fit 3-pin pot and a detached switch ON-OFF on the false panel. do not create problems to yourself.

Kt, you're right, but it's an additional 3 switches, additional holes and a broken original panel, which I wouldn't do. Better try repairing the existing potentiometers.

maybe this will meet your expectations:

I would try to straighten the legs and connect the switch with short cables. With this solution you will not destroy the casing.

                        Thank you for your answers.
I expressed myself badly, unsoldering them from the board doesn't bother me, I would like not to make additional holes and add additional switches on the front.
Although there are versions with a switch on the RK097, example :

I searched but couldn't find it.
Does anyone have the diagram for the “Deep Hunter” module (rear box) ?
While removing a switch SK23D07 from the module I accidentally damaged the board just a little bit, and I'm not sure which is connected to which.
