  • Minesearcher form Whites

    Hi there,

I got a couple of minesearchers from the military of my country. As far as i know they are modified Whites underwater metaldetectors. They should be very senisitive, so i'm told. I think they are from around year 1988, quite heavy, solid buildt. The controlbox has one knob(volume adj.) and a pushbutton for reset.
    Very, very simple to use.

    Can i modify these detectors?

What type of Whites detector are they build on?

On the picture of the pcb-board you can see a couple of trimpots. Can i replace some of the trimpots. with pots and get more adjustments?

    Regards
    Stein

Why he will loose his time with it  .
Best detectors for treasure hunting (not for coins at beaches) are PI and the most of them without discrimination.

          Thanks for your answers.

then i know it's a PI detector, and it operates at 4,77khz(label on ctr. box).
Different metal reflects better on particular frequency?
If i could change the frequency, do i have discrimination then?
Maybe someone knows where i can get the schematics.

          Regards
          Stein

Hello Everyone , A Great posting shoe , and everyone just gave up on it !!!

A circuit worth building and modifying or definitely to study . You know these must be dependable because they were made for the military !!! Or else you would be in a few extra pieces at the end of the day.........I found two related pdf files today , it sure would be nice to find the schematic on this "RARE" AF-108.........Another Great Metal Detector project almost forgotten on the Geotech Forum..........I am glad I saw this today , I know I have not been sleeping for 2 years , I think !!!....This should find more than just scrap metal , anything that has a Whites label on it , is worth looking into !...........Regards..........Eugene52

              Hello Eugene52 ,

thx for info and files. Thx goes to Carl too for the schematics for af108... awesome!!!
I started to look into this detector again, i really like the design. Now i can buy 30 to 40 of them unused, but im not sure if i would do that.

I wrote earlier a lot in this thread, but when i clicked "submit replay" i was asked to log in again and all my writings was gone
Next time i will use copy and paste...

              Regards
              Shoe
