Yup a newbie and one with not a lot of money either. lol Anyway I picked up a White's Gold Master Mineral & Metal detector model no. GMS64 on line and don't even know if it works. Did I say I didn't have a lot of money...So here's what I know, the guy I'm buying it from got it from a family that said it worked but the batterys are dead. So no joy there. Anyway is it worth thinking that the technology from 68 is good enough to use anymore ? And does anyone know where I could get a manual for it ? Thanks have a great day

You can still get those old manuals from the White's website.
The GMS64 is very old technology... basic TR, no discrimination, half the depth of current models, and fairly heavy. That said, put fresh batteries in it, take it out in the yard, and dig every signal. See what it'll do.
You can get a real cheapo made-in-China detector for under $50 that will probably outperform the GM.
