  • SD2000 depth increase mod

This is a very simple mod thats been around for years. To make the detector into the deepest detector on the market all you need to do is change the Crystal to a lower frequency, upon frequency sweeping the detector I found that the the SD2000 actually has a sweet spot when being clocked at 1.250Mhz. The detector will not operated below 1.2Mhz so 1.25Mhz is a good choice. I found that at 1.25Mhz the detector is less prone to interference and boy does it go deep on large targets. This mod with an 18 inch coil is great for Gold over 3oz. If you want to make the detector a killer on small Gold try clocking the detector at 3Mhz or 4Mhz, the detector normally runs around 2Mhz.

The pic below is of the 1.25Mhz crystal in the large can.

Has this sweet spot been validated on more than one machine? I wonder if it varies. Also, I assume the crystal f is divided down somewhere, and the actual pulse f is much lower. Know what this is?

I have an SD2000, will have to look at doing these mods (one day!). Thanks for the great info!

Yes Carl the crystal F [clock F] is diveyd up and sliced and diced as i call it.
The large and small trans plus non trans period equals aprox 1430u/s before it repeats itself, i will let you do the maths from there.
