JW Fisher Pulse 8X underwater probe?

Has anyone ever made a ferrite probe that will work on the Pulse 8X?

I have ordered some 3C80 ferrite rods from Surplus Sales and
have an inductance meter. I do know that the Pulse 8X only
uses one coil and have the correct wiring information for the
waterproof plug as I have already made a 25-foot extension
cable for the coil.

Mainly just wind the coil near the end of the rod, and try to match the inductance of the main coil. I think I've wound a PI coil on one of those same rods, I'll try to find a pic.
