  • Garrett Freedom Plus Two & Fisher 1270

Hi, I'm Looking To Do Some Possible Mods To My Garrett Freedom Plus Two And My Fisher 1270...I Was Wondering If Any One Had Schematics For Either One Of These Metal Detectors.. I Mainly Need To Know What The Board Mounted Potentiometers On These Units Control.... If Possible I Want To Add An External Ground Balance Or Another Discriminator Control Too ....If Any One Has Any Mods Or Information And Possible Suggestions Please P.M. Me ...Thanks

hello. you was right wondering. to our sorrow Garrett deletes all marking on ICs. probably it is such protection from coping, I do not know. I have had the Freedom, opened, there is also 'black epoxy module'. I think it is pre-amplifier and synchrodetector control part. these are why I did sell Freedom.

but, anyway, good luck to you.

        The 1270 GB potentiometer is

the one closest to the cable connector and marked with a 1. It works in tandem with the All metal GB control so can be a bit tricky to get right some times. If you can't hear a difference in disc mode when trying to adjust the pot to your ground switch to all metal GB with the knob set at 3 1/2 and then adjust the internal trimmer.

Hi Tom, Thanks For The Reply. So That Trimpot Controls Both Discriminate And All Metal Mode Or Pinpoint? Thanks Again

Yes. the factory adjusts the trimmer with the All metal GB set at around 3 1/2 to whatever standard they use. Since I use disc mode exclusively I set it for my typical ground. The factory setting was negative most places here.
