  • It si possible mods firmrware in Whites Eagle Spectrum?

    Hallo I have a question
I am thinking about change 4 presets program in original FW.(never used in my whites)
It means change the value and names of this programs.Maybe across any controller RS232 or etc.
Have somebody any idea ,experience or know-how?
    Thanks Tom

You would need to pull the program out of the chip, reverse-assemble it, and then figure out how it all works. Extremely difficult.

Carl, this HAS been done! I saw somewhere on a Russian website, as copy of the Speccy, can't remember where though, I think it was called the Ciklon or something like that. Also if you look as Whites patents, the code for the graph is there for ALL to see, flowchart included, it wouldn't take a genius to write a menu driven system to control the rest.

I EVEN saw the schematics somewhere on this forum so all the ports and addresses of the individual components could be worked out. Might take a few days to find them but worth a look none the less.

Everybody yakin' about those factory presets!? Why?
It seems you dont have highly mineralized soil in your area?
Ok...coin preset is modest on medium soils...but i checked it on highly trashy area and it turns to be only possible solution for accurate coin detection. All my and others custom programs failed in accuracy on that terrain. All good coins were detected. It is possible that some very bad coin is rejected, but also 100% of trash. So.....guys from White's for sure did a good job there.
If you want to accept worse coins also than use other preset.
I would never give up of factory presets - last line of "defense" in many cases.
BTW...i have 2 Spectrum's here. One is ok and works perfect.Other came from user who reversed wires on accu. Original accu. was broken so he connected 6V accu. with wires. And reversed. Device is dead now. 78S40 is replaced with new one. TIP32 is good. All transistors in pow.supply are good.Nothing burns or warm. TIP32 is closed all thetime, no pulse to open it.
When E and C shorted to conduct voltage to 78S40 part, it start to oscillate and work, producing 24Volts!!!!? Ok...no synchro signal from uPC. Voltage is good. Or....is it???But only when disconnected from the rest of detector. When connected, 24V drops to 4.xx volts. I connected 2W balast on its output and supply continued to work but voltage dropped to 18 Volts..!?
I tried to follow lines, respecting schematic...and soon i lost my self!
          Speaking of uPc's in Spectrum;
one is 68HC705C8 and another is SC403209P?
          Are those identical?
I can not find anything on the net related to SC403209P????
Directly from accu. through Q7 , 68HC705C8 gets accu. voltage on pin 40.
Yet SC403209P gets nothing on its pin 40.???
It is hard for me to trace route to that pin cose it is under chip, i would have to resolder it.....which is in a way hard and trivial job, huh!
This is first time me to deal with this stuff..so i am wandering if any of you already have experiences with this - would save my nervs and time a lot!
Somehow i have hope that both uPc's are not burned...or even better both survived...
