guys, alexis, say he need the recipe schematics and conecctions for micronta 4001 coil, or recipe turns specifications, may be he lost disk, may be anybody can do messurements in ohms for these coil of alexis, micronta md chinesse be an erratic detector due to bad brand cheap complements

      Hi,

Just got hold of one of these for nowt, so thought I'd mod it as described for the hell of it. It seemed pretty sensitive in air compared to what I've used before, but I am a total beginner.

Got the resisitors at Maplins, checked receipt, resistors as specced. Worked out the 2.2k and the 10 and foolishly presumed the 3rd one would be correct. The maplins bod gave me a 2.2 ohm instead of the 2m2. Totally kicking myself for not checking!
With the resistor installed across the 1-2 pins on the auto chip, the detector just sounds continuously, doesn't alter/stop/start near metal etc. nothing. Obviously taken the bateries out now, but didn't have chance to try it with resistor removed, as my gas ran out in the soldering iron. Will I likely have fried the 4007 IC? Anything else that will have gone with it? Can I get those chips easily enough?

I just enjoy the challenge and am aware that this detector isn't regarded that highly. I'm hoping it'll be ok for a bit of playing around, once i've sorted it and set the coil etc.

      Thanks!

The guys in the Maplin shops don't understand resistor colour codes. Either that. or they're just lazy and throw them into the nearest drawer. This has happened to me a few times, and you have to check each one yourself. It's much safer to buy components from them on-line.

You're not kidding! I went back today and a different chap got it wrong again, totally different value. Obviously still had red red black yellow fresh in my mind, so noticed and got it swapped for the correct one. He had to use a multimeter to check it's resistance.
          Hope it's not blown anything!

It's a shame really, as they're supposed to be an "electronics" store. Nowadays they're more of a "gadget" shop.

And it's sorted! Will have a play over the weekend, but does seem more responsive from the quick mess I had.

                  Ditto!

Those guys are useless. I got given two 5.1k resistors instead of 51K for my surfPI delay circuit and spent weeks trying to figure out what was wrong. I even gave them the order code - I just assumed the resistors were the correct value. When I finally figured it out i went back to the shop and absolutely blew a fuse at the guy who admitted none of them know anything about components. The cheek of it is all through out the catalogue they say "Just ask one of our experts". And the page in my catalogue from 2009 all about metal detectors is clearly plaigiarised from the net. I emailed them this to point it out - dont think they were too happy

Ok guys I know this is an old thread, but I have a Micronta 4001 and I'm wondering what I can do to improve it. Anything would help, thanks!

Also, I don't have the manual, so any poniters on operation would be great!
