  • Silver umax ground balance

I have been reading about the Silver umax and ground balance. Most posts refer to other Tesoro's as a guideline. Well, I opened mine and there was not ONE (to me) visible trimmer or pot for ANY kind of tweaking. ALL components on the breadboard are fixed. There would have to be a trimmer pot added somewhere-any info appreciated.

Hi Slingshot. Sorry Dude, YES there is. It may be very small, but it's there. Silver with a white cross to fit a screwdriver near where the coil inputs are soldered to the PCB.

I replace them with a 3.75 turn unit from Bourns (100K or marked 104) which fits on the top right of the front panel with a switch on below it to change between FIXED and MANUAL.

If I recall, looking at the PCB aas you take the front panel off, the trimmer is at the bottom righthand side, very near to the semi circular cut-out for the stem.

Take another look it should be there.

      well, duh!

When I s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the wiring further (guess I'm a little nervous when it comes to opening a new detector) they were covering the little blue bugger up. Thanks. I went to an area that I knew to be higher in mineralization, switched it to all metal (not a true all metal) and bobbed the coil and did not get a change in sound. I'm considering leaving it where it is as this is about as rough as it gets in my area. Especially when I'm dealing with surface mount
