  • Increasing speed on GC-1030-1B

I recently acquired my first metal detector, el cheapo version.

It has found quite a load of coins etc but since I am a tech tinkerer I was wondering if any mods could be done to this.

This metal detector seems to have many names: Superscan 30, Evergreen Scout, Black bull detector 1030 etc.. Some bounty hunters seem to have the same LCD screen at least..

Well, the circuit board says that the type is GC-1030-1B.

On the circuit board there are three potentiometers and I really would like to know what do these do..?

The board is driven by PIC16F73-1. The current running speed seems to be 4MHz (YC 4.000) ? Is this correct? Can this speed be increased by changing the oscillator? Does it any good regarding to detection speed etc? (Don't mind if the battery lasts less). Any negative side effects? Or does it even work.

Anyway, if there are any schemas for this, I really would like to see, and if anybody has done any other mods for this.

    Thank you in advance!

    MTK.
