Same old Lamebin, NEW MONEY OLD ROPE and the fact that a LOT of detectorists are, shall I say it, GULLIBLE believing that a "new" machine will make the difference. Of course WE all know better on this forum don't we?

The NEW Sovereign, with it's ground trac...ERM same micro and same code if you pull it from the ROM. Worse still is the fact that Limeban told us, when the Sov first appeared that it could "See through" bad ground and the like, it's plain for ALL to see in their early advertising yet now they would have us believe that it needs this new fangled system.

OK Milenabs marketing department is one of the best out there, but as Lebanim have were sold by Halcro a few months back I am questioning their viability as a company, in fact a friend who lives in Oz told me that her company had been sent a LOT of CV's from Engineers desperate to flee the ship, could this mean that ML are in financial trouble?

The new Pulse Devil NEMESIS will be the final nail in their coffin. Candy is out of ideas and on more than one occasion attempts have been made to STEAL PD prototypes from Dave Emery's house. How low will guys sink? I could tell you but the US and Oz authorities are still investigating the attempted thefts .

HOWEVER, ALL the above said, the Musketeer is an AWESOME machine and IF you adjust the pots right, it is the deepest VLF you can get, if a little "on the edge". Has anyone traced the schematic yet?

I intend to. But i am waiting prospecting "season" to end (until winter and snow). Because Colt is my most favorite machine, i am taking it with me always. Soon as season ends i will put it on the table and trace out.

About the rest....yes you are right. Almost all manufacturers have same strategy.
Partially i can understand that. It is tough to get new ideas, very tough. Especially nowdays...almost everything already done in this matters.
We have old and uniform concept; coil, TX and RX, indication. Everything in between already done; uPc, ADC, connection to outer world (pc), rich and nice user interface, multifreq. blah..blah.. tough to get new ideas, pretty tough!
E-Trac and Spectra V3 presents last achievements.
I think next would be full integration with multimedia.
How about cell phone with md features?
Take an example....Nokia N96. It has inputs, outputs, uPc, ROM, RAM...it already has extra good synthesizer, generator...fast software. It also has gyroscope, GPRS...Only thing left is...apropriate coil!
Include GoogleEarth mobille version, add more memory, make apropriate coil......that's it!
Audio output at Nokia (and simillars) is strong enough to be converted and used as very descent TX! Microphone input is extra sensitive and adjustbale and can be used as RX. What we need is coil and good application!
Hell of IB metal detector!
Maybe sounds crazy....but it's an idea also!
What new ideas?
White's and Minelab already done everything! What else could be done (in concept; tx,rx,coil...)?

I want to change tones, is it possible to ad a variable tone control?
This way I can choose the tone that is agreeable to my hearing.

Yesterday first day outdoor with new SE. Splendid!
First few minutes i was "showered" with plenty "yoola! yoola!" orchestra from speaker, but than i realized how to adjust it more properly.
Splendid!
Actually i have feeling that it is sort of non motion! Splendid!
Deep! Very deep!
Only problem i still have is accurate pinpointing. Always misjudge it for 2-3cm left or right! In time i will overcome it for sure.

Right now i know and understand why and how Norfolk Wolf made mistake in that famous video where recovery speed tested. Huge mistake.
Simply you can not swing SE like any other fast motion detector. SE is non motion and need slow swing, 4 seconds per swing. Second; factory preset is not so good (nothing new). There is option to adjust; FAST or/and DEEP recovery in SE menus. Huge difference!
When switched in IRON MASK mode and IRON MASK lowered to cover only 10% of LCD, SE performs like hell! Coin next to long iron nail is cleary detected. No problem! Just listen tones. One tone for coin and quite different pitched for nail. Impossible to miss! Impossible to skip!
I already posted remark on that video in the past. Now i am more sure i was right. SE is not having problem with recovery speed at all. It is all just in proper understanding of machine and proper adjustments.
In same video series Norfolk Wolf presented XP Gold Maxx Power as best performing machine, especially when recovery speed tested. I can partially agree. Now having my own SE and also having XP near me (my brother in law detector) i can perform detailed tests to both machines at the same time. Don't guess me wrong, XP is splendid machine also. But...it is not even in same league with SE when discrimination is subject. Can't compete with SE at all.
One thing is when you put coin and nail on wooden batten and quite another thing is when you put those items in real soil at descent depth...let's say 30cm deep.
SE see those items the same. Cleary discriminate with no doubts at all.
XP is perplexed!!! Mixing tones!!? Deep enough but mixing tones!!??
I was disappointed much yesterday!
I couldn't tell which target is coin and which was nail for sure!?
Tones at both targets are mum and mixed!??
Norfolk Wolf's videos (batten part) are not reliable and illustrative.
Yet parts in videos that shows performances on buried items are ok, but we must keep on mind that those items were at shallow depths than.
Yesterday i did tests at much deeper items, deeper than 30cm in soil.
Both machines see 1e coin at 35cm depth burried in soil. SE discriminate with no errors, XP is perplexed.
Closest machines (and best on market today) are still SE and DFX. Performs almost identical in all tested conditions. So my top list remained unchanged for long period:

3)empty
4)empty
5)empty
6) XP GoldMAxx Power
...

Yes, i have 25.5cm DD coil and 28cm DD coil with SE. First one is standard as we already saw with XS,II, Quattro and SE and second one is new one, coming with E-Trac and latest SE series.
