  • minelab explorer's hidden feature

did anyone know that the explorer had a hidden feature & how do you access it?

There is also suppose to be a hidden screen on the e-trac.
this is Supposedly how you are meant to access it.
"To access the 'Expert' screen, press Menu>Expert> scroll down to select "Ground" and then press the Left arrow (below the on/off switch.)"
You must press the Accept/Reject button to initiate the analysis.

Hi keith777, Please give me a little more explanation or indicate where to read more.
Upper picture shows that the IRON MASK is ON. What are the two curved lines?
    Is the Quote:
"To access the 'Expert' screen, press Menu> Expert> scroll down to select" Ground "and then press the Left arrow (below the on / off switch.)" written in User Manual?

Eight numbers are too much information about the target. The name "dGnd" in the lower picture means that this is some information about the ground. Can be read in the User Manual what each number means?

It is a common thing in cable boxes....

In the cable box industry, it is a common thing, to discover another hidden menu, or a back door, that the programmers left in, just by trying various push buttons....

In fact, my son helped out a General Instrument tech one time, in his cable systems head end plant, and the GI tech, took the ordinary hand remote control, and with quick button selections, said it was 15 buttons sequence, but my son was not able to figure out what he did, nor would he tell them, and low and behold, the cable box came on, and began descrambling any channel they selected, and it was not authorized yet. It was a way for the factory tech to check out a box, when he was at the cable system headend....I think it would be pretty difficult to remember 15 different button pushes, so I think it has to be a word phrase story, to help the tech remember which button to push next.

i came across this on another forum today. a guy had emailed minelab and asked them about the hidden screen and this was there reply............

            Thank you for your email.
There is a pattern that is embedded in the detector that is for technical diagnostic work by Minelab technicians only and is not accessible nor has any information that will benefit the user.
I am sorry that you were misinformed in this matter.

            Regards,

I'm mistaken, that the eight parameters written on the display refer to the target. They are actually diagnostic parameters for metal detector and connected sensing head. By experiments one can establish which parameter what it means.
Gugu71, you have such a machine for experiments?

                    As opposite to posting #1:
The feature 'Analyze Screen' is not hidden at model V3. However:

                      Hi and sorry for delay,
Right now I have my leg broken, cannot continue testing, but if you run the test in the hidden menu, it seems to do a manual ground balance, that continue till the next test. (you can try with many differents materials, the wall, air, wood..)

                      In the field:
I was doing some test to confirm this, and it was looking good (please for this, set the e-trac with no discrimination and sound continuous in ferrous (to ear the iron land)), you know what I meen?.
When the background sound becomes too high because of the change in the groung mineralization, do the test again, will see..... and tell me please
                      Now I promess replay fater
