Just wondered if any one here can help with this if I fitted a adjustable pot on the cover plate which had a switch on it (rotary) would it be possible to have the detector in fixed GB when the pot turned off and adjustable when switched on or will I need a joggle switch as well . Many thanks in advance John.

My guess is that it would work, however, I would keep the wires as short as possible. You will probably have to cut a trace on the board so that you can switch the PCB mounted variable resistor out of the circuit and your front panel mounted one into the circuit.
