  • New laser trident si running @ 18KHZ

Hi lads is it possible for me to boost my KHZ to 18 from 14 as i have cibola which has the same circuitry as tejon and trident they both have the ED 180 circuit, now they have brought out the new trident si which is running @ 18KHZ and it used to be 14,any thoughts on this one?

The first thing you should do is get hold of a Cibola schematic,

Then, using an oscilloscope, check the initial phase relationship between the TX and RX signals. You will also need to measure the inductance values of the coil. Next calculate a suitable value for the TX capacitor to achieve a frequency of 18KHz. At this point it would probably be a good idea to check that the TX oscillator is oscillating ok. Then calculate a suitable value for the RX capacitor to bring it close to the TX frequency. You will need to adjust this capacitor somewhat to get the correct phase relationship.

Unfortunately it is quite likely the residual RX voltage will either be too high, or you cannot get the correct phase relationship without crippling the sensitivity. Anyway ... good luck!
