  • Garrett ace 250 tone mod. idea and question

I have an idea to change the loud bell tone some people really dislike in the ace detectors. I am looking for a chip and speaker out of a childs toy or possibly some other device that I can mount externally on the detector housing and run it between the headphone jack and either speaker or headphones. Where there used to be the belltone, now the energy goes from the headphone jack to the "soundmaker" whatever that turns out to be and comes out different. This is my idea , my question is does anyone know of a comercially available "soundmaker" that I can get a radio shack or some other place instead of using borrowed parts from a toy ? I have also considered the possibility of one that has a way to change or tune the sound emitted from the device but I dont know if there is such a thing.

Depending on finding the right component this could also be the easiest mod./add on to get volume control ( besides volume built in headphones )....if it was small enough and had an adjustment.

Using the headphone-jack and a small speaker (even piezo) would leave warranty intact, but if only the volume's too loud simply solder a 20-50 Ohm resistor between one of the inside speaker-cables connection. This also will help saving battery power.
