    This is exactly what I'm looking for! I purchased a Vibra-tector 730 to see how that works, but I need soothing that will find a coin deeper that 3.5". I would love to make one like this, but I have no electrical background.

      sorry to bump an old thread, but excellent job appy, nice clean easy to seal(water out).
      that led is spot on, one of those on my barracuda and i would not need any audio.

        Are there instructions somewhere on how to calibrate the Surf PI 1.2 using an oscilloscope? Tks.

            Well some people like to dive with there detector and it's easier to see a light than to wear waterproof headphones...

                Well I think you disconnect the speaker and put a LED there. Maybe need a resistor and try both
                directions until it lights...

                    dieretcly put it parallel to piezo Speaker
                    piezo with a parallel led is much louder
                    i suppose i takes more current
