Douglas, for somebody who doesn't know much where exactly should I hook up the meter? I've got an IDX. Rob

Da metered Classic ID
I used an meter ripped out of an analog Multi meter that didn't work anymore. You attatch one wire to D2 and the other to Chasis. I could only get this to work on the classic IDx, and not the Classic 3 I have, much to my disapointment. Now the action of the needle is too quick and of you blink you mught miss what it says. I used a 440 uf capacitor and XX ohm resitsor (in series with each other) and parlalled to the meter. a 1k trimmer is used in series to the whole circuit to adjust for sensitivity. It is not a perfeect circuit and can be improved on but it does work. The meter doesn't respond at all to coins over lets say about 7" but neither does the ID. so a target that will pass through your discrimination and beep well, may not read on either one, so it could be deep silver! Or a target that barelly pricks the meter may jump around on the ID around dime, zinc penny, and nickle. so that would be a good target to dig. A large target like a can, or large iron than reads as a false high conductor can be thrown out when your meter pings all ther way. I've found it to be very useful. ther is plenty of room in the id meter housing for an analogue metter like this. A drill and some JB bond weld works wonders.... you will void any warranty, and run the risk of breaking it all together but who cares? you can always just go out and buy a Minelab if you want depth that bad.
