I have been working on my cl3 I added the theshhold and ground knob, both work very well. Is there a way to add a little bit of extra signal?

Classic III Parts for Mods
I have been wanting to add the Ground Balance and threshold control to
My Classic III. does anyone know which part they are labled on the schematic, and what the values are. Even better would be the correct part number from whites, or an alternate source to order from.
Thanks

white's classic 3 threshold andg ground balence knob
Threshhold is 200k, ground balance is somewhere between 10k and 25 k.
25 works and is a little too touchy (sensitive to set with he fingers) and the 10k doesn't cover it all but will work. use a piece of ferrite to test it. proper ground is supposed to close to where moving the ferrite away from or towards the coil beeps the least.

Maybe some help
Hi,
after assembling several Cassic III aparatus I must say this:
there are a few schematics of aparatus flow over the net and every has a different element values!?!?!? Some yokers or what!?
If I don't want to publish my secrets at least I am not gonna confuse other
peoples...So at the begining I started to experiment on my own. Finally I've
got it. U may use those values U have but U have to know very sure in what part of aparatus are critical values and what U can experiment. Ground knob many added but it is critical because of conection on the very unstable area.U may use a small teflon coaxial to connect points with pot.It will help a bit. But the main problem is not a gnd knob. On my schematics there is a trimer 1k on the input opamp (rx part),triming the gain of the opamp.LF412 is used. I suggest an NE5534 or LM 318 which are faster, but U have to change the values around it too. That 1k gain trim is very critical, that is the point which produce false signals mostly...therefore U have to change hole rx part with a better one...let's say U may take a hole RX from 6000 di pro schematic, it is a bit stabile...one russian publish some changes ...right now i can not remember...but U find this easily on the net....some cl III mod or something..
Classic III is a good starting point to make a excellent detector, because it is very simple and easy to understand. My apetite goes even more so I added a quartz oscillator with cd 4060.It has many outputs, so U can choose any quartz from1 mhz to 10mhz and U can attach many different coils on the machine, adjusting the output freq.
The other source of unstable work of CL III is a coil.If U do not make exact coil for that freq. If U mismatch coil over 5-10% it will produce a lot false signals and U gonna lose depth too.
Just for example, after finishing all changes on my aparatus now it can detect a 1cm cu coin on 23cm distance, fully grounded with no false signals at all, which is very good result according my previous experience. I forgget to mention, coil on my machine is 24 cm radius, tx is circle and rx is eliptical, my own experiment but pulled on CZ Quicksilver design.
Also Iwant to extend sound on it.The nice sound produce Fisher CZ5,it has a slice delay on some finds. That area of experiments are still not done.I am collecting datas and knowledge yet.I do not like CL III sound. It is simple and anoys me. Any suggest? Regards....

hi.
1. what quartz I must use for White's frequency 6592 Hz w/ CD4046?
2. why you do not wish use AVR or PIC chip for the division?
3. I HAD give MUCH schematics, we know these as MOD's ('modified', 'modification' - Classics' of). why you do not wishes read about the info?
all the schematics were tested by SEVZIRFO, FAMOUS GUY in Cool Russia (!)
4. Ivan married. why you do not greet him?

answer
We can talk after 24h today....now quick answer...
simply: 6592*512=
6592*1024=
6592*256=
etc.
etc.
result U get is the nominal value of quartz....Later I can post U schematic with cd4060 if U want...and the rest of my stuff....justify if U want...
About Your post ....well I am new here on forum...I did'nt see any of that...and I am very interested about mods for CL III esspecially tone mods.
Reply me until 24h and we can exchange all material....
thanks...regards

ivconic, how is this idea for you?it is known that classic has good sens in All metall mode, but low sens in Disc. bad thing... so we change these roles here - pinpointing channel now will work on full power, but discriminates
(I think...).

A long time ago...
After some time i am here again.I do reconsidered your post and i do like it.But it seems that the main problem over cl3 is stabillity/ground balancing again. All mods are welcomed so far but still , even it is a very nice machine, it is suffering from instabillity...I was tried with quartz oscillator, it was good idea.....i guess we can gain much more with a better search coil.A DD coil would be the best solution...I saw some very unconventional DD coil on some russian site. I would like some advice for some very conventional DD coil for cl 3.....
This subject is not explored yet...it has much more to be done until closing it.
Let's put some more life in it....
Please do not redirect me on .ru sites, i do have much problems visiting them...
A very slow opening, much russian(whic i do not understand) and ....
Let's post here everything we intend to post and say...
regards!

There are some pretty smart people here. Is there a MOd to disable the silent mode in the discrimination circuit? I hooked up a target intensity meter to my classic ID I connected a simple ammeter form ground to a diode and it works great. simple yet effective.

some refresh info on Classic
hi people of the earth.
what you see what you get. done by Dmitry (Deamon). position numbers are not such as you see in original schematic - attention to it.
