  • ACE 250 Solar Pinpointer

If you work with a very powerful MD with large coil like Jeohunter you need a very good pinpointer, too. Because sometimes you'll find two or more objects in one place that give just a merged single signal or the object is buried deep and has a special position/shape so it is off center, and not in the middle of the large coil. For shure without a good pinpointer you'll blame your detector for "wrong signals", but that's not correct.

    How the mod works:
All you need is a small wooden board, lenght around 20-25cm (a bit shorter than 1 ft) and 2-3cm (1'') thick. And it's very practical if you have the little sniper coil. Fine if you have an additional plastic screw and a driller because the board needs 2 vertical holes for the plastic housing and one for the coil.

For using solar power get one or two of those cell-phone loaders with integrated accu and USB-etc. connetors. Those provide around 4.5v DC which is enough for the ACE250. Mine has a femal USB mini jack and the male USB mini-cable was soldered directly onto the mainboards battery connectors. The solarcell-accu also is rechargeble over 220v adapter and if fully loaded the ACE250 works over 10h with it (mine has 1350mA).

    Hello,
Do you have schematic for this?
    Best regards.

      hi wallker

      there is no schematic - it's a simple "battery-cable"-connection.

if you have solar-cell-accu-pack with USB, connect cable (USB Mini)
you have cutted before to ca. 15cm and test polarity - most of the
time you should get +5v @ red cable and ground @ black cable.

Solder the end of those cables to the correct battery connectors
or directy to the Ace250 PCB battery contacts. Good luck.

thx for answering back and by the way
the Garrett Pro Pointer (price ca. 150 Euro)
also is a very good pinpointer solution.
