  • MODDED 770D

hi all iv got a cscope 770D but iv modded it abit.
first of all i removed the disc parts so now its ALL METAL. then i made it so it run on one 9v battery (not 4).and dissconected the guage aswell because of the battery drainage
and then fitted a whites DOUBLE D COIL (deep scan).
and i can say its mega deep i can add ive had hammered with it and also roman spindle whorls as well. all been a good depth. my next step with it is to mount the box and coil to a new modern stem but having trouble to get one.

Hello, interesting. What is "Mega deep"? Don't you miss at least some minimal iron rejection? I have a Viking 5, which is a non-motion detector with a 8" 2D coil. The target for this detector are mostly coins on the beach. As the beaches I go to got machine cleaned on Monday, I could hardly find anything. All in all, in 8 hours just 4 coins and a load of bottlecaps and pulltabs. None of the coins was deeper than 4"...either they are not there or the Viking does not see them.

How does the 770 handle the ground? How about "hot rocks"? My beaches are full of them.

Anyway, after three days out with the Viking, I started to like these old designs. A detector like this will teach anyone to do parallel coil swinging
