I do not understand! If you touch this leg of the potentiometer to 1 and 2 pin of the MC1458, it would mean that shorting inverting input with the output of op amp. Why?

It's a virtual ground.

You'll better take "Magnum on steroids" schematic and analyze it yourself, it is everything there.
"Magnum on steroids" covers all the "Golden Mask" models until basic model 5 and beyond.
