No guarantee but L44 might be a series schottky diode, BAT54S. They're not too hard to find.

Easy enough to check with a multimeter (diode setting) with your existing chips.

The pic is distilled from BAT54 datasheet found at mccsemi.com.

Good schottky diodes should read about 0.2V~0.3V or so, from cathode to anode.
