other question what's best PI:1)surf. 2)PulsStar-G2. 3)delta puls2. i really want to know the difference between them in terms of depth and discrimination.thx

i noticed that there is a difference between U1 in schematic and U1 in parts lists,is that normal?silverdog know the answer.

If your go to the surf pi construction thread its all there, i can only suggest you read all of it from back to front like all these projects on here there will always be mods and changes but its so helpful if read all incase you come into problems while constructing the thing.
Ive noticed over a period of time that the same questions come up time and time again and the bells ring yet another person not done there home work.
If your a beginer your best bet is buy a kit from silverdog its uptodate kit has all the correct parts in the bag, he even marks up the resistor values incase you cant read the colour codes, the pcb has actually got the part numbers on it, so even if you cant read circuits its still doable, I know this because ive seen pictures of what he sends out, its good value for money and if you have a problems which i very much doubt he will try and sort you out.

Silverdog.... when do i get my commision hehe

        U1 is a 555

schematic and partslists may show different manufacturer variants, TLC555, NE555D they are all ok

          hello there
thx for replaying, you'r right i have still a beginner to build a metal detector, but what i can do i can't bought a one, because it's forbidden in my country and no one sell it,best solution is build it myself, but i don't know which one to start build, because i wanna make one for land not for beach and can ignores irons i mean can heard a difference sound when u detect an iron, with depth between 20-25cm 1eru in soil,in my country have so many areas of archaeological, what about IGSL TGSL i think it's good for my request, what u recommend?

          hi silverdog,thx...no problem.

            hi silverdog,thx...no problem.
In that case a Surf PI will not be any good to you as it cannot discriminate against iron.
The IGSL will be too complex for a beginner. You might want to try the TGSL kit, although the main problem there will be constructing the coil. I highly recommend that you read all the information here ->

            before you make a decision.

              Hi
thank u a lot,i will choice it,i think it's good, when i finish building parts(pcb) i will come to till me how to work on oscilloscope if u want.but i will start my pro when i be in holiday, because i'm so busy now (final examinations in uni).

              regards $hooter.

                hello there..
thx for this forum it's really fantastic,i have a problem;i'm work on TGSL metal detector it's good for beginners (like me),and i have been got all Components, but the main problem is how to adjust the two coils "coil nulling" and on oscilloscope, plz explaine clearly (u know i still novice).thx
