Well... Transference of the measurement from the amplitude to time domain seems genius to me.
All logic circuits can be replaced by a simple and cheap uP. One of its timers/counters can be used for pulse timing and another (in some processors - even the same) for precise -slope duration measuring. A fitered PWM output can set the comparator threshold (direct pin states can be used for switching as well). If at least three different thresholds are used for the subsequent pulses the log slope angle can be easily calculated (the mediane averaging of all times should be performed first).

Is there a PCB design for this circuit and also the guidelines for building the coil? What site did you find this ckt on?
